Will Dad ever get home……

March 30, 2009

The million dollar mop sits like this from about 5 pm til Dad gets home….  I need to put a pillow at the window ledge.  Sometimes Dad works late.

Dog Life Philosophy

March 23, 2009

The million dollar mop has a life philosophy:  Bad attention is better than no attention.  This little guy is very emotionally needy.  When Dave comes home he cries and moans until he is picked up.  When Dave and I are having a conversation that does not involve him, he goes into the living room and jumps on a chair.  It works.  I stop talking and give “corrective” attention.  This weekend it happened and I realized I was being played.  We were in deep conversation and Rowdy jumped on my nice chair.  He rarely jumps on this chair.  I stopped and corrected him.  He promptly jumped off the chair and ran over to another one and jumped on it!  Hmmmm…..  Smart fellow.

My beautiful daughter and the million dollar mop.  We had a good day.  The Houston weather was perfect.  P.E. was on the trampoline.  I even jumped with them today.  They thought that so sooooo cool.

Dog / Furniture update

December 17, 2008

I’ve had a busy few days!  Our modem went out late last week and I’ve been off the computer.  It was a good time to take a computer fast b/c I had other things going on.  One was trying to teach Rowdy to stay off the furniture.  He did not want to cooperate.  Finally my friend suggested I spray his face with water.  This little guy clearly understood what I was telling him to do but he has his own agenda.  The first time I sprayed his face with the water bottle, he froze and would not get off.  Finally I got a leash and made him jump down.  The next time I told him to get off and he gave me the look, “I dare you to make me.”  I went to the kitchen and got the water bottle and headed toward this 15 pound golden boy.  To my surprise, he jumped off when he saw the water bottle.  Of course we praised him for complying.

The girls have started leaving Dave and I notes on the dry erase board.    If we’ve been in bad moods, they also leave prayers to God on this board about us.   Or they draw a cartoon of our day’s activities.  They came up with this – no help from us…especially the direct notes to God about their parents.  Each day we get a new “anonymous” note.  This is what I found today and basically covers our dog training adventure.   Take note it all revolved around golden boy.
