I was recently asked if I have couponing / shopping tips. I have not focused much on the “how-to” in my blog. Rather, I’m more theory about why I do what I do and what I’m into at the moment. And I share my progress hoping to motivate others who are trying to do the same thing.
But today I will share a few sites I find helpful. These will give you much more information than I could recreate. I’m a follower on good deals, typically not a “finder”.
I wrote about shopping w/o couponing here…http://houstonmom.wordpress.com/2009/02/20/cutting-grocery-bill-without-coupons/
When I do coupon, I get my information on which deals to get with certain coupons. I do not clip coupons and file away. Rather, I buy 6 papers each week and file the inserts by date. Then I go to other sites and find the good deals matched up with the coupons. Many sites tell you the date/insert from which the coupon is from. Then I go to my insert, clip the coupon and am on my merry way. If you clip coupons and file, you can get steals because you can readily find a coupon to match a clearance item. I tried this but it took more time than I was willing to spend. So now, I go to makingcentsintexas, moneysavingmom, moneywisemoms, and many others to find the best deals.
I also subscribe the the grocerygame. This is a great tool. The downside to the grocerygame is that I must shop at my major groc stores on Sun – Tues. This can be inconvenient for me.
I’ve signed up for EZMeals. I did not care for their meals. Too much processed/boxes food for me.
I check out frugalfridays at http://www.lifeasmom.com/.
Here’s a blog I found on recession proofing your pantry. This blog has good stock-up tips.
My husband is hooked on slickdeals and fatwallet for finding the latest non-grocery store deals.
One other thing I do is hardly EVER watch TV. My spare time is spent reading and surfing sites for Biblical education for myself, current events, homemaking, homeschool and frugality tips.
