Housekeeping – Laundry

This is what happens when laundry is not folded for three days. Sometimes with laundry I feel like Lucy during that old episode where she is packaging chocolate from the conveyor belt! If you don’t watch Lucy, go back want watch a few shows. Laughter is good for the soul and Lucy is clean humor.

We have our second exchange student arriving on Thursday, so I want the house to be in order for his arrival. His addition will bring the kid count to 5, do I need order in our home. And my husband LOVES a tidy house. This week I’m trying to keep up rather than let things pile up. I folded the laundry and picked up from the cleaners. Now I need to just keep things running…

You know, I have the same problem with my clean laundry piling up on my bed, and then ultimately being pushed onto the floor to be put off until another day. I read a good tip recently, that suggested you only do one load of laundry at a time. And you don’t do another load until the first is washed, dried, folded and put away. That has helped in my home, when I can stick with it. It’s just so much easier to do several loads at a time, it’s like I get on a washing roll and just keep putting in load after load. Now I try to do one or two loads per day, and have them put away by the evening. Good luck tackling your mountain! And thanks for joining in Minimizing Monday!

I must say… I forced myself to wash, dry, fold/iron, and hang/put up things every night. This was very hard at first. I wanted so bad to just pile it on the loveseat. Afterall, we can’t really see the TV if we sit on it, and we do need to use it for something or it would have been a waste of money, right?? But, I pushed myself to continue. And, it is really true what they say about habits/routines. Once you are in the groove, it isn’t too difficult to continue. The downside… my husband jokes that we all only need one set of day clothes and one set of night clothes since what we wore today is ready to be worn tomorrow!!! Men just don’t get some things!! LOL
